We arrived in Murwillumbah to watch the WRC Rally on the Thursday and chilled around the van. We hadn't organised tickets or anything, so we had to walk into the town from the Campsite the next morning to see where we got them.
We had a little walk around and a few beers but couldn't work out how we got tickets. We ate lunch, had a few more beers and then went for a walk.
We came to the massive field where all the food tents and stuff were located and worked out that we either had to get tickets online, with an Australian address (obviously we couldn't do that!) or pay lots for each of the days.
Next thing you know the drivers were all being lined up with their cars and we got to watch the opening ceremony and Super speical stage for nothing. We could see just enough on one of the corners and worked out later that we should have actually paid to be there, but as we'd gone in so early it was too hard for them to work out who had tickets and who didn't - Result!
After over hearing a few people later, the tickets were pretty pointless because no one got to see any more or less than we had. The next morning, we drove to watch the Service Stage which was cool. When we were in Nimbin people were talking about protesting the Rally because it 'interfered' with the animals. So loads of people from Nimbin were throwing things at the cars between stages and lying down in the roads, so it meant the drivers were nearly 2 hours behind at the Service stage. Some barely got half the time to sort out the cars but it was still good to watch, especially seeing Sebastian Loeb and the Citroen team!
Ant decided that he'd seen enough of the Rally to not need to buy tickets, so just bought himself a WRC Australia Rally cap instead.
