Ok getting more up to date now folks.
So after three days exploring Bordeaux it was time for some much needed r&r and let's face it a bit of mothering and some home cooked meals. So we headed to the countryside about an hour northeast of Bordeaux to a place called Chenaud, for five days to stay with Suzie and Mark, family friends of Ants.
Our unusually different accommodation here was a large tent-like-bedroom situated in an old French barn dating back to the 1730s.
Highlights of the week included:
- sleep ins (seriously after 4 weeks without a single rest day we were exhausted)
- BBQ dinners and ample wine
-a tranquil two hour canoe trip down a local river with not a human in sight
-swimming almost daily in mid thirties heat
-visiting the stunning medieval town of St Emillion, entirely surrounded by the deep green vineyards that make the famous Bordeaux wine region
-heading out for a reunion with some of Ant's extended family
-Ants decision to grow a travel beard until he can no longer handle it, progress can be seen in our photos. And yes they are ginger sides.
So from here its goodbye France and hola Spain! San Sebastian our first stop then Barcelona before hiring our campervan for two weeks!
