We arrived to Buenos Aires late on sunday night. We were supposed to get here a bit earlier, but (for the second time!) we hadn't booked anything, so all the buses were full and we had to wait 3 hours at the bus station. Oh well. Finally we got to Nannas appartement and were too tired to go out, so we just ordered take away. It's great here - you can even order ice-cream and they deliver it to your door!! :) I've got a feeling I'm going to enjoy this city..
The appartement is really nice and in the posh area. The kitchen and bathroom have just been done up and there's a lovely balcony as well. Only problem is that we've only got one set of keys, so it makes life a bit complicated, having to arrange my and Nannas schechdules (oh god, how do you spell that..?). We'll just have to see how it works, but so far, so good.
This week we've just spent wondering around (read: Nicola geting lost everyday) in the city and going out at nights. There are so many nice restaurants and bars here, so I'll keep myself busy trying to get to know them all!
I better head back home now, I'll be expecting Nanna in 15 minutes, but I'll write more after the weekend. Meanwhile there's some photos from Brazil in my facebook.
(ps. My finnish phone is working again, so I can use that for texting. And if any of you have texted me in the past 3 weeks, I haven't replied cos I haven't got them.)
.......
Yay, we finally got two sets of keys!! It makes life a whole lot easier. (At least for Nanna, not having to get up at 5am, when me and Nicola come home from a bar, or for me not having to get up early in the morning to let Nanna out..)
Anyway, last week was different, because Nicola was here and I hadn't started working yet. We spent the week exploring the nightlife of Buenos Aires. It was good, now I know my way around the city.
First when we got here it was bonechillingly cold and we were tempted to catch the firts flight back to Brazil, but luckily it warmed up pretty quickly and weather on the weekend was fab (like the finnish summer). So on the weekend we enojyed outdoor restaurants and went for a stroll in the Recoleta cementry and the posh areas of Palermo.
Nicola left last night, she's continuing her travels and I will start work on wednesday. So a different part of my trip is starting now. I can't belive a month has passed..
It was a great first month!! We had so much fun, saw a lot of different places and met great people. Everyone who's travelling here seems to be from Ireland or England... We've had good times with them, but it will be nice to meet some locals now and practise my spanish for a change.
I'm looking forward to start working. I went to the hostel today and it seems nice. I much rather work in a bit smaller hostel, where you get to know everyone, rather then a massive hostel like Millhouse (with 150beds). The hostel is right in the center, it has 4o beds, a bar, common room with a pool&ping pong tables and the co-workers seem friendly. I'll let you know how I'll get on.
Everything's great here, I love living in a big city. I can see why many people come here for a holiday and then decide to stay. It's a lovely city with the kind of buzz that New York has.
Take care and you know my email.
