They say you get happier the closer you get to the falls, but I've been happy the whole time I've been travelling, so I didn't really know what to expect... So in the search for happiness we took the 16 hours busride from Sao Paulo to Foz de Iguacu. The buses here are great. (They're SO much better compared to Europe. The seats fold up as beds and they have films and food on board.) The Iguazu falls are amazing. The noise, the mist, the power- it's hard to describe, it's just something you have to experience. The hostel we were staying in Iguazu is definatly in my top3. It's built in an old casino, there's a nice swimming pool, pool tables, bar and all the other servies you need. So Nanna or someone else whose planning to go that way, you really should stay there!
Before Iguazu, we had a relaxing couple of days in Ilha Grande. We spent the days relaxing in the hammocks or on the beach and one day we hiked for 2 hours in a rainforrest to reach this beautiful beach, Lopes Mendez. (Apparently it's been voted as one of the world's best beaches.) And it was worth the hike. The sand was so soft, like flour and the water was crystal clear.
After spending all those days on the beach we took the bus to Paraty. Paraty is a a charming little town by the coast, but it was too quiet for me and Nicola. So after one night there we decided to hop back on the bus and spend the weekend in Sao Paolo.
Sao Paolo is the world's second largest city(?). It's not that pretty, hasn't got much to offer for tourists and it's meant to be quite dangerous, so that's why we originally thought about skipping it. But after all those calm days we needed to have a good night out and Sao Paolo turned out to be an excellent choice. Nightlife was great, we found even better sambaclubs than in Lapa, Rio and had two really fun nights dancing the night away :)
The brazilian part of my journey is now over and even I didn't like leaving Brazil, at the same time I'm so excited about Argentina and the new adventures. But I will surely (some day) return to Brazil!
