So today we had the morning around the pool and once the sun had disappeared over the hotel we decided to get the underground to Lumphini. We wandered in the direction that we believed to be heading towards the park, but after a while we had a coffee at the post office and finished writing our postcards to Mum and Dad, and to Ross. We tried to byt stamps but the man took our postcards and I think was trying to say he would attach a stamp to each and post?!! I guess they have two chances, so let us know when you get them, if not a lesson learned and 30 Thai Baht down, which is about 70 English pence!
We then found a cafe with free wifi, so ordered a drink we had no intentions of drinking, well actually we did but it wasn't the best so we left it, and got on the web. Quite a while later we remembered how far from our hotel we were, and with time ticking on we hailed a taxi and got back just in time for our trips welcome meeting.
Our guide for the next 30 days is called Pok, and seems a nice guy. Also on our tour is Robert from Holland, who is just doing this trip as part of his holiday, Hazel from Glasgow, who has been travelling and working in lots of interesting places since Sept 2010, Maya from L.A but now lives in Manila, who is a special needs teacher so is here during her 'fall break', Catherine from Wales, who has explored South America and is now doing Asia, Oz, Nz, Fiji and Hong Kong for 6 months with her friend Natasha, who is also on the tour with us, and Jacob from Southampton, who is starting in Asia before meeting a friend in Oz and also exploring NZ. LOTS of knowledgeable people's brains to pick in the next 30 days to help with our onward travels!
After the meeting we went out for something to eat and drinks as a group and gave us chance to chat. As a guide Nik had stir fried chicken with vegetables on rice with a beer and converting it back it cost around £2.40.
We thought quick pack up of our things, hair wash and early night ready for early start and lots of travel tomorrow, but it seems we had unpacked more than we had remembered, so that along with THE slowest and most useless hair dryer in the world meant we got into bed at 1.30am, good job we had arranged a wakeup call for the morning.
P.S sorry we have run out of time so pics to follow tomorrow
