Moving hostels again.
We had another lethargic morning today of uploading photos and blogs, we were so stuffed from the previous night's meal that we didn't even manage to eat breakfast and settled for a couple of coffees each instead. Around 1 or so we left the hostel and took one of the pairs of trousers back, it turns out that they didn't have 3 pairs of 32 inch trousers and had slipped a pair of 34 inch ones in as well... What's more odd is that they have a tailor on hand in the shop anyway and when we took them back they simply got him to modify them for me so they fit. This was going to take an hour and a half so we decided to go find some lunch in the mean time, we ended up in a a small eatery after the lady at Mc Donalds tried to rip us off (we had a coupon from our last visit for 2 for 1 burger but they tried to charge us for both and claim that was the correct price!!) where we got a starter and main for $2 each. We then looked around a couple of other shops before collecting my trousers and walking back to the hostel where the (really helpful) owner organised us a taxi to our new hostel for a reasonable price. (prices here like most of South America depend on how latino you look/sound, not that they are racist, nooooooo of course not!!!!!) The taxi dropped us off outside the new hostel which is only 2 blocks from where the salsa congress will be held. The place is stunning with colonial style decoration everywhere it feels more like a hotel than a backpacker's hostel and even has fast internet!!! We quickly got settled in and went to look at the area around the Sheraton where we found a shopping centre, a very large supermarket (with redbull) and a food court. We then enquired at the hotel to try and find out some more info on the evening and after being passed around 20 or so people eventually a helpful lady gave us some of the info we wanted. (the person in charge of the event wasn't in) We decided that while we had time we should look round the shopping centre and buy some stuff from the supermarket, we also found a press event for the congress where some of the performers were signing autographs and we were able to find out here that registration was at 12 the next day (since the organisers didn't think it wise to inform us of this!!) We walked back to the hostel where we spent most of the evening catching up with our blog. (still a long way to go!!!)
