Los Angeles
We woke up to find that we had a view of the sea from the rest stop which was quite cool as it meant we had been right across the country from coast to coast. We decided to have a drive around and try and see the Hollywood Sign, so after an hour or so we found ourselves in a pleasant neighbourhood with 'proper' houses all in their own individual style seemingly based on the sort of house you'd find in the South of England! I became more convinced that we had been transported back to the South coast as the road narrowed down to almost single lane and started winding and switching back and forth up a steep cliff side. The houses perched on the face of the cliff had stilts to help keep them level on the steep hillside and the flowers and bushes surrounding them made it look just like a Cornish village! After navigating our way around we eventually found somewhere to park so we could get out and take pictures of the sign way up on the hill behind us. After a bit of time admiring this we drove on and headed in towards downtown. We drove around for a while and passed all the movie studios but not being particularly inspired by the place made our way back to Stevens Steakhouse for a Salsa lesson in the evening. The lesson which must have had at least 60 people in it, was taken by a really friendly guy called Miguel Aguirre who taught a nice lesson that suited the average level of so many people. He ended up using me and Andy to demo as we both got the routine quite easily and he liked my use of styling throughout. Once again the music after the lesson went on until 2am with lots of people staying late to dance. We had another good night dancing before starting our drive back towards Vegas. We drove about 70 miles before finding a Walmart to spend the night.
