Bertha Fixed and Escaping New York

We got up before Santos arrived at just after 8am and he told us he was trying a few other places to see if they had the part we needed. It was the right axle which apparently is hard to come by for a 20 year old Ford! He rang around until somewhere said they had one then had to wait for his sin to arrive to help him fetch it. When they left we sat around waiting and read some of the books we'd bought in the last few days, I'd already finished one reading on the buses and trains too and from New York and got stuck into my second one! When they arrived back about 12 we went across the road to do some laundry and then to get some lunch. We brought back a 24" pizza to share with them that cost $16 and was amazingly delicious!!! Thats less than £10 for a huge, freshly made pizza...no wonder Americans have weight issues! We read our books and watched a film one of the children was watching while they continued to work on Bertha, not only did they replace the ball joint and the right axle but they changed some belts and other bits for us too! They finished about 4 o'clock and after a quick test drive round the block we paid and thanked them for all their help and hospitality before heading finally out of New Jersey and away from New York! We drove to just past Philadelphia before finding a MacDonalds to catch up on emails etc and lastly on to a rest stop to spend the night.
