Day 3, afternoon:
The guys at the shop showed me a back road that they said was like the one marked for the national route, but it was a good ride and not too busy. I took it and it was beautiful- I had to ride up over the mountains behind Pitlochry which was tough, (Dave if you're reading this we need to bike more hills this summer!) but after that I basically cruised down a valled next to the creek from the start where it was just a tiny stream to the end where it was a decent river (by Scotland standards haha not the Cedar or the Mississippi haha).
I didn't stop at any sites, most things are closed with the 'Bank Holiday' today. It was great cycling, the wind swirled from a headwind to a tailwind with no warning, but it didn't rain on me again more than a few sprinkles.
I had to be real careful coming into Dundee, I was on a major road, marked for bikes and there were other bikes out, but even with the holiday thankfully the traffic wasn't bad at all. I'm now a pro at roundabouts too!
The whole thing ended up being about 42 miles, plus the 16 or so trip to Blair Atholl and back, so 58 miles, not a bad day!
I cooked my dinner yesterday, so tonight will be a lazy night, relax and put my feet up. Tomorrow I'm going up to Glamis Castle and back to the museum here in downtown Dundee before heading over to St. Andrew's!!
Fun fact for you: St. Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland! I'm still having a great time up here haha
