Day 3! What a crappy day. Gray and rainy all morning, I slept in a little bit and then made the trek up to Blair Atholl (backtracking... ugh about 8 miles) to go to the Dukes of Atholl residence. It was really cool, they didn't allow photos inside but it was well worth it. I wish I had been born a duke-- huge house, ballroom the size of my high school cafeteria, gardens, CASTLE! Unfortunately they didn't take me anywhere cool in the castle, no secret passageways.
I had left my bike at the guard shack, with a former hippie who had spent 2 yrs living on the beach in LA back in the 60s and a retired Royal Navy sailor. When I went back to get my bike, they invited me in for a cup of coffee and to warm up. She said she'd like to know that if her son were traveling someone else's mother would look after him haha so I got cookies and coffee.
Back on the road I stopped in Pitlochry to pick up my bag and grab lunch, the rain subsided by then. I stopped in at the bike shop and talked to the workers and found a new route to Dundee. The route I originally had via Perth was somewhat out of the way, and I had heard it was less scenic.
