After the tomb of Agamemnon I headed up to Korithos to see the canal and the old city before heading back to Athens. When I climbed on the bus I saw the two Norwegian guys from yesterday and they were headed to Korinthos too. I gave them all my unreliable bus and train schedules along the way and said good bye at the station and I headed off to find the canal. I stopped at a hotel to get a map and directions, which turned out to be a waste of time because the canal was about 50 meters down the road from the bus stop. I saw the canal in about 15 seconds, it was unimpressive, not as big as I expected and there was no cruise ship in it like there is in all the post cards.
Having seen all there is to see in the new city, I headed back to the bus stop to go to the old part... where I was reunited with my Norwegian friends once again. We also met a couple from Barcelona so the 5 of us all went together to the ancient city. The guy didn't speak much English and was from Argentina so I got a chance to warm up my Spanish for Spain tomorrow! His girlfriend was from New Jersey and was teaching English in Barcelona, but on holiday in Greece.
They're going skydiving tomorrow and invited me along, but I TURNED THEM DOWN for Sevilla, and the yelling in my head again. One of the Norwegian guys was a lawyer and the other was an art dealer, they both had just finished school. Got some good tips from them about seeing the rest of Europe and where to go.
The Norwegains got a hotel room at the site because it was closed, so we said our good byes again and the 3 of us decided to walk up to see what we could see- usually you can't get too close even if its open.
We didn't see much up the road we walked so we turned around and walked to another monument, where we ran into the Norwegain guys again. Said our goodbyes again, and then headed up the road again. The couple left to catch a bus back to Athens, I headed to grab a bite to eat and ran into the Norwegian guys at a cafe. We talked for a little while longer until I decided to walk back to the train station. After saying good bye again I left, but soon realized that the train station was too far away to walk so I went back to get a taxi. So far, walking by again was the last time I saw them, but it could easily happen again before I leave!
At the train station I hung out with the ticket guy for about an hour watching the Liverpool v Chealsie game. He lost 50 euro betting on it, so I'm glad I left before it was over.
I've been hanging out in the hostel again, basically best friends with the owner by now! My flight leaves early in the morning, so I have to catch a bus early too and he's letting me crash here for free. I know my way around Athens by now, which it is a pretty cool feeling to come back to somewhere you 'know' after travelling.
Now I'm about to head down to the bus to the airport! Hasta Espana!
