THE BEACH!!
I caught the bus to Nafplia this morning no problem, and following the advice of the hostel owner here in Athens I headed up the 999 stairs to the castle with my 999 pound pack. About 100 stairs in I was thinking that the beach below was looking REALLY REALLY nice, but I managed to make it to the top and back down safely (oo it was tempting to jump from the cliff, but I had two grandmothers' voices in my head, and they were yelling... so I didn't)
The castle was a REAL castle too, they let you just wander around, through the walls, in the subterrainian tunnels, everywhere. The views of the town and harbor were great, but all I could think about was the beach below.
Going down was a lot easier than going up, thats for sure, but I worked up a sweat so the frigid sea felt great! This beach was really nice, pebbly and clean, blue blue water and no clouds in sight. I met a couple girls from the states who are studying in Scotland, they invited me to do the St. Andrew's polar plunge with them on May 5th-- which I'm pretty sure is the same day I was planning on going there on my trip to Scotland! They also said the weather was getting better and sunnier there, so I'm happy about that. They were hitting the beach all afternoon and it was really tempting to stay and swim, but I bussed up to Mikines at 2...
