Berlin. Probably the city that is: the largest, has the most random weather, the most sites to see, the most of everything and anything out of all the cities iv been to so far!! It's kind of like, if the city had a mouth it would say: "I want to be this, and this, oh and that, and a bit of that, and this aswell", so basically the city has a slice of heaven for everyone. :)
I stayed here in Berlin for 6 nights, 5 days. The longest time period iv stayed in a hostel i think? But to be honest, that was probably the perfect amount of time to be here. There was a lot to see, but I also realized that Berlin is really a city that you have to discover just by walking around amiously(not sure if thats how u spell it, been trying to find out but cant find it on google!! lol). I didnt waste any time and ran(nearly ran because i had to walk an hour to get to the place, Berlin is massive) to a walking tour, which was meant to be 3 and a half hours, but ended up being about 4 and a half. Yet again, the tour guide was an englishman, they always are, i think its because they are the funniest. So he basically showed us all the major sites of the city and some pretty cool information! By the end of it I was absolutely exhausted, was so cold and been walking for about 6 hours that day so back to the hostel to collapse.
As the tour guide showed me the main sites, for the remaining 4 days i decided to pick out all the sites i really wanted to see that he didnt show on the tour, and also hit some big christmas markets! So for 3 of those days thats what i did, bought some nice christmas sugary goodness and saw pretty much most of Berlin. Saw the art'ed up Berlin wall, theres some really impressive art- all of it has meaning, mostly to no war and freedom. Met a couple guys from Italy, they've been living in the hostel for a couple months now, i guess why not when its so cheap! Alright guys, cool just for a small chat. Also met a couple girls from Brisbane!! They were cool, chilled with them one night- no big party night with them, sorry guys no cool stories lol. The last day was strange weather, it was actually semi-warm.. which means that all the snow, in nearly one day all melted away, was so strange! So ended that day with shoes full of water- thanking the heaters very much right now!
However, on one of these days my plans were extremelyyyyy unexpected, I actually spent the majority of the day walked around trying to find a police station and trying to fill out my first insurance claim! Reason for this was, on the 3rd day, there was only myself and a guy who came in just to sleep one night in the 8-bed dorm room. So i did what i do, woke up and went for breaky. Next thing i know, I come back, the guy is gone "yea ok cool", and then i find my 1-month old watch is stolen "yea ok not cool"... So spent the rest of the day pretty grumpy and doing insurance stuff- im praying insurance will cover me. But thats just a note for any other people who are going to travel; always be cautious, its when it's the most unexpected that something will happen. The weird thing is I told myself "nah, I wont put my watch on im only going for breakfast"... Note-to-self: always wear your watch to breakfast. Only one more week of hostels aswell, happened to me right at the end. Oh well I get good Karma now right?? :D
So i only have 5 more days until I meet my parents in Prague!! 2 more cities to visit in Germany: Wurzburg and Dresden. Dresden should be fun because I 'should' be given a bike from the hostel to ride around on haha.
Until next time, tschuss!!
