Photo actually of duo topini before crossing to Belize but all my photos on my camera. Sorry.
Sooo...Caye Caulker...as we arrived on the penultimate day of lobster season I of course indulged at Rose's where you chose your seafood & it just gets chucked on the grill. Had the only Queen lobster they had as apparently is very rare & legend tells that she brings good luck to the eater! She looked very different to usual lobster, short & fat with thin claws. Her meat was softer & richer in taste. All this with slaw, rice & salad for 35 Belize (or US$17.50) :).
Valentine's Day started with breakfast in a tiny, colourful cafe/art gallery with a freshly baked bagel & good coffee. Then it was off to the dock owned by Raggamuffin tours to catch our yellow sailboat (The Reggae Gal) for a day on the high seas. Cap'n Patrick took a shine to two of us & so we got to take the tiller & sail across the caribbean sea.
As most of you know I am terrified of all creatures in the water & sharks especially. However I am delighted to say I snorkelled with Sand sharks (some over 8 feet) & huge stingray in the famous Shark Ray Alley We then went to the Hol Chan Marine reserve where the highlight was swimming with two huge sea turtles.
After a long day on the boat & a few cups of rum punch we hit The Split for a bucket of beers whilst watching another stunning sunset.
Best Valentine's ever! Hope y'all had good ones too x
