So we had planned to take the long way down past the other view points but it rained most of the morning so relaxed at the hostel instead! Such a nice place, you could spend a few days in the peace and slightly (and only slightly) cooler temperatures of the mountains. Did panic a bit coz after lunch we were just getting ready to head off and the heavens opened! Thought we maybe relaxed slightly too long!lol. Didn't want to leave too late as it we had to go back by public transport which was going to take 4 hrs and we thought it would take at least an hour to get back to the main village! Thankfully the rain eased off after 10 min so we looked out the rain coats and headed off. Even with taking it easy on the wet stones it only took 15-20 minutes to get back to the village and to make things even better we got offered a taxi straight to Guilin and it was only £2 more than the direct bus we got yesterday! We were a bit dubious but another couple joined us and they were sure it went straight to Guilin too! So we were back in Guilin within 2 hrs rather than 4! Much quicker and easier than getting the public buses! Went straight to get dinner, very hungry so decided to try the Irish bar since it was close! I got a great curry but Cam wasn't so impressed, he was sure his chicken burger and chips were from KFC!! Lol.

Last day in Guilin so decided to walk to Elephant Trunk Hill since it was the closest to our hostel! Holy its hardly worth doing anything here, it was a short hike up some steep steps to get to the top, prob hardly 5 min but we were still dripping with sweat by the time we got to the top! Hardly have to do anything in this humidity before you excessively sweat! Sort of understand why they walk so slow! It was a nice walk around the hill but the views were so so, not the nicest city to look at, brown river and misty, think the photos would have just looked miserable! Cam was intrigued by the loudness of the noise some sort of insect was making in the trees (sounded like a man cutting down trees with a chainsaw!lol) Think he was actually getting pissed off coz it sounded like millions of something but he couldn't see what it was! Headed back to the pedestrian street for dinner, not having much luck here with food. First we couldn't order because the chef wasn't in until 5pm, it was 5 past 5!lol. After a couple of minutes they took our order, as always in these countries Cams chips turned up first, I was sure I spotted them taking it over from the restaurant across the street, kept an eye out for the rest of the food and sure enough next came Cams burger followed by my lasagne! No harm I suppose! Cams burger was edible but a little under cooked, bearable! But after a few bites I realised my lasagne was still freezing cold in the middle! Obviously not reheated properly! They heated it up properly but although it had a great tasting sauce the chef must have put it upside down on the plate when he took it from the fridge/freezer coz the cheese was on the bottom and had stuck hard to the plate, made it a mission to have a mouthful! Suddenly KFC from the Irish bar doesn't sound so bad! Definately the worst meal we have had in a long time!
