We made the most of or last day in Xi'an by renting a bike and cycling round the city walls! It was great fun! Been years since we have been on bikes! In the evening we joined in with the dumpling party at the hostel. It was just a shame that we had to leave for our train! Got to have fun making them but missed out on tasting them! :(

So.........Shanghai! I think this was our first small travel problem! Our train arrived in just after one in the afternoon so we decided to grab a quick snack at the train station (luckily as we had a long trip ahead of us!) before jumping in a taxi to go to our hostel! We had the hostel name and address in English and Chinese so we thought it should be no problem! We were wrong! After driving for an hour the taxi driver seemed lost and kept stopping and asking for directions and going round n round in circles! After another 30ish minutes of this we were starting to get annoyed! The fare was getting higher and our phone batteries were getting lower! Eventually we got dropped off in a random area and got told our hostel was around there somewhere! We were happy to get out as thought we might get further with a local who knows the area and it wouldn't cost us! Luckily an Australian couple stopped to ask if we needed help! They saw our rucksacks and knew there must be a problem because it was not an area for backpackers! They were able to explain to the driver where the hostel was, give him a row for trying to drop us off in the middle of nowhere (miles from where we should have been) and confirmed to the driver that we refused to pay any more for him to take us to the hostel! So another hour or so later we finally arrived at our hostel! Luckily we had no sightseeing we really wanted to do as after a 3hr taxi drive all over the city it was now 5pm! On the plus side we were only 10 minutes away from the airport so we grabbed some snacks and relaxed in our room for the evening! The room was a bit random coz it was literally one room containing the bed, shower and toilet! Not a room you would want to share unless you really know someone!lol.
