Brissy is a river town that has some good shopping and all the basics. My first hostel had bugs ( I was told Aussie roaches, not bed bugs, but I still freaked). And the bunks were so low that if you sat up in the middle of the night you could cause a concussion. Believe me I have several bruises to prove it. Moved to a much nicer hostel and even got upgraded for free! I'm going to be here for a month so I started finding all the necessary places. Joined a gym, found decent free wifi ( decent is a relative term, all of oz has super slow Internet), discovered a city hopper across and down the river, looked for some good run trails in the botanical gardens and on kangaroo point, and basically have been a boring, normal human being.
I did visit surfers paradise and that was fun. It is suppose to be a lot like Vegas though where all you do is party, so I don't really need to write about more pub crawls and goon online.
Volunteering at lone pines koala sanctuary starts next week and I am quite excited. But since I am being eaten alive by mozzies out here, I'm gonna finish this post and be on my way... Just letting you all know I'm still alive.
