Alyson, Emily, Julie & Katie's Adventures
Alyson. Hello from Vietnam! Well i will give you a quick run down of our time so far in Vietnam. We spent a few days in Hanoi the capital it was cold and rainy and smelly and we didn't really like it. it was also still Vietnemese new year so everything was shut for the first couple of days we were there. We decided to go on a boat trip for a day to get us out of the city. We got bus to Halong Bay which is North of Hanoi on the coast. A boat took us out to some of the 'many beautiful islets' that were advertised. They didn't look quite so good covered in cloud on the dismal day we chose to go but hey nevermind. The boat just kinda moored up to a floating shop selling fish and sea food (live) and kinda stayed there. Not very exciting. Although we did meet a lovely guy from Korea who we spent the day with asking him loads of questions and listening to his life story. He was an english teacher in Korea and kept taking pictures of us to show his class (we were not looking at our best in our jumpers and rain macs - giving english people a bad rep!). The only good thing from our boat trip was a stop at a cave on the way back which was amazing it was massive and all lit up with different coloured lights - very pretty. Another day in Hanoi was spent on a city tour where we saw the dead body of Ho Chi Minh ( a very popular leader with the Vietnamese), a few temples, Ho Chi Minhs house, cars, museum all very interesting (up to a point). Anyway having had enough of Hanoi we booked ourselves on a 26 hour train journey down south to the coast to Nha Trang which is where we are now. The journey was not actually too bad. Its hot and lively here in Nha Trang and we love it. It has a fab beach where we have spent most our days and lots of bars and nightlife. We also took a scuba diving and snorkelling trip yesterday which was excellent. Katie went off diving coz she is a pro, me and ju did our first 'try dive' where we kinda got lead around under the water by an instrucor for half an hour and all we had to do was breathe and swim (we got a certificate to - get us). Unfortuatly Em was not allowed to dive due to her asthma but she snorkelled and took pictures of us, bless her. So thats about it for now, we will update again soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
