Just a little message to let you know that we were completely oblivious to the whole Indonesian earthquake and weren\'t even aware of it til we received worried emails and phonecalls. We are all ok and well, so no worrying necessary. We will give you an update of our jungle explorations soon but right now we are going to the zoo, yey!! So we will write again soon.

Having spent a few nights in the south of Ko Lanta, we moved to the 'busy' part a bit further north. Busy it was not! the whole place was covered in a layer of dust, just like a ghost town. Everywhere was really quiet and all the clubs and bars were empty, probably due to people still being wary about visiting the island after the tsnami. Aly and Em: We left Bangkok on the night bus heading towards Ko Phangan. Thought that our luck was in due to the bus being practically empty - how wrong we were! The full bus took 10hrs to reach the 'ferry port' which meant that we arrived in the pitch black at 4am! We had to sit and wait outside for four hours for our ferry. Em and Aly; Highlight of Ho Chi Minh City was the trip to the Viet Cong tunnels, they were really tiny and our exceptionally small guide had trouble fiiting down them himself - no chance for us then! We had to use the 'tourist' entrance which has been specially made! Alyson really didn't like it at all and had a minor panic attack six metres under ground! Not much you can do about it down there though when your crawling about practically on your knees in the dark...

Katie: We woke up at 4:30am (yes, that's right!!!) in the pitch black to catch our jeep to the sand dunes. I luckily was put upfront (a benefit of being a 'large' person) whilst the others had to squeeze on the back bench, which was designed for 2 very small people.
