Alyson, Emily, Julie & Katie's Adventures
What an adventure we have had! We were picked up early from the hotel and just as we finished straping our bags to the roof of our slightly rusty minibus it started the pour with rain- just our luck as everyone elses bags managed to fit inside the damn thing! On the first day in Kanchanaburi we visited the war cemetry, which commemorated soldiers from WW2 we then went on a bamboo raft downt he river Kwai - it wasn't too much like hard work as only the lads at the back had to paddle! After lunch we were taken to Ewrn Wan waterfalls which were beautiful and lazed around there for the afternoon. There were little monkeys jumping about in the trees and Katie and I (Em) saw a massive lizard up a tree (which we thought to start with was a snake but then realised it had legs!).
In the late afternoon we were taken to our camp which was pretty cool. It was right next to the river and we all slept in tree huts (except the boys who had a hut on the river and woke up to find a rat in their bag!)
Slept like a log and was up early the next morning to go on a 'trek' through the jungle. It was not fun. It was so hot and humid and all up hill, we all got scratched and biten and were not the happiest of souls when we got back! We then canooed across the river (again the boys did most of the paddling-katie did her fair share tho!). At about luchtime we went to a elephant sanctuary and had about a fourty minute ride. Alyson and i had a rougue one that refused to keep to the path and was more interested in flailing a brach about! In the afternoon we visited another waterfall, not as impressive as yesterdays but nice to be in the cool again. Just got back to Bangkok now so will write again soon xxx
