After a long delay in writing this blog I will attempt to fill in the gaps iof the last 2 weeks as we have been very busy! We are now in Bocas Del Toro in Panama, a previously unplanned detour to the caribbean coast and some little island where travellers go to party! It has been fun but has been raining loads so isn´t as good as it could be as we can´t just go to the beach. We cycled to a cave which was 8km one way of steep hilly gravel track which was tiring but quite fun and the cave was exciting as we went through unguided with torches but it was quite small. We saw bats and spiders that were as big as my hand! We went snorkelling on our first day and saw lots of beautiful coral and fish, and to a bay that had lots of wild dolphins jumping around but apparently if you swim there it scares them away so we stayed in the boat but it was great to see. Yesterday we went out in a boat to a surfing spot but the waves were too big at the first place we went (a thrilling but scary boat ride!) and then the second place I was too close to the reef and got scratched on the coral, stung by something and put my hand on an urchin so we left! Luckily none of the injuries are bad and the spines are just like splinters but not poisonous. Since the last blog we had a surfing lesson in Buzios which was great fun and not as difficult as I thought it would be, and then to Ilha grande in Brazil which is an beautiful but very touristy island near Rio. We went to a beach called Lopez Mendes which is a 2 hour hike through the rainforest (which we did) or a water taxi as it is quite secluded but there are also no cars on the island which is really nice. The beach itself was once voted as it the top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world and it was great with clear turqouise water, white sand and palm trees! It also wasn´t very busy due to the trek to get there. Luckily the weather was beautiful though the sand was much too hot to walk on comfortably. Today we are planning on going back to Panama city to organise getting to Colombia- if the weather is nice we will go to Colombia by boat otherwise we´ll fly as the boat trip is long and we don´t fancy seasickness!
