Just hopping into bed after our first day out in Paris! We woke this morning to a dark grey sky and rain which sucks! At least I could finally whip out my cosy jumper and coat I've been lugging around with me. So we visited the Champs-élysées and strolled down the wide, famous street. All the different cafes, shops and restaurants had a hint of gold either on the signs out the front or inside. Apparently it's a requirement for all shops on the Champs-élysées to have some gold in it. Even the Maccas M had been changed to gold instead of yellow. Once we had finished eating some lunch at an overpriced cafe , we visited the Arc de Triomphe. It's actually soooo big and you can see it for miles while walking down Champs-élysées. It's cool to know it was made around 1806 in honour of the men that died from the French Revolution and Napolionic wars. A bit of history ey? We then walked all the way to Notre Dame via the Tuileries gardens. The walk took about 45 minutes but the sights of the old architecture and beautiful garden beds and trees around us made it worth it. On the way we passed through the Placa Del Concord which is Frances largest public square. We admired the ancient sculptures and buildings as we walked passed the Obelisk of Luxor. This was a gift from Egypt to Paris. We also stopped by the love lock bridge that was chocker block full of different coloured sized locks with names and initials on them. We placed one on the bridge with our three initials on it and threw our keys into the Seign river. It was such an odd sight to see, but I definitely want to find our lock one day. Once we arrived at Notre Dame I was a bit disappointed in its size. The movie portrays it to be so much bigger, haha so I was expecting some huge cathedral. The line was too long to go inside bit the detailed carvings of gargoyles and soldiers on the outside was cool enough. There is so much sight seeing to do here I feel like we're back in London! The EIffel tower is tomorrow, and I'm really excited to do the Catacombs. Also I'll try and upload heaps of photos from my camera onto Facebook because these blog photos are just from my phone and are kinda s***e. Ok good night , aurevoir ! Xoxo Alice
