hey, Yesterday I left Brisbane for Surfers. My last day in Brisbane was ok but after sight-seeing I totally ran out of things to do in what seems like a very boring city. Did meet a wicked guy called Fenn. I've seen him at loads of places I've stayed at but this was our first conversation. We had lunch and wasted the rest of the day at South Bank and doing the pub quiz in the evening. Fenn came to Surfers with me coz he's also headed south and its been awesome here. Its not exactly paradise as I've imagined it, more of a shame than anything. Its got miles of lovely beach but the sun is constantly hidden behind the vast apartment blocks and skyscrapers and it just looks like Benidorm, but there's lots going on and loads of cool people. I went to the beach yesterday then went out with girls in my room for a party with the hostel. They took us to a bar where there was free beer and food, a backpackers dream so I didn't spend a penny. Me and Fenn got up early this morning to go to DREAMWORLD which is like the biggest themepark around and got some of the biggest, scariest rides in the Southern hemiphere. We just got back and I'm totally knackered. Fenn made me go on everything, including a 38 storey drop tand some of the fastest rides I've ever seen. The park was virtually empty and it was a great hot day so we got to go on everything without a single queue in sight-couldn't ask more than that. Would like to stay in Surfers a bit longer, it is quite a dump but its got a good party vibe and great beach. Unfortunately my tight schedule means I'm off to Byron tommorow but I'm equally looking forward to that. Definately fulfilling my newly found love of addrennalin sports and we've got the big hostel night out later so I think I may be sleeping all the way on the bus. The Gold Coast rocks!
