The last two weeks have required a lot of moving around! Post-Freo, we returned to the Perth YHA to save some money and use the time to apply for jobs. A few friends joined us there and we spent many an evening playing cards and drinking cheap wine! I enjoyed Perth much more the second time around, and the YHA was clean (ish), with a room to ourselves for a week! We became culinary inclined and made chilli, carbonara, tacos and bolognese (thinking about this from the dreadful kitchen in Albany!) We achieved David's ambition of visiting Perth zoo and luckily had a friend, Lloyd, who came with us. No lions, but tigers and bears (oh my!), as well as my fave elephants, scary snakes and koalas of course! All in all a great, frugal, second time in Perth. Winter, however, was coming and the rain was beginning to come down. A few thunderstorms and a day of rain meant stocking up on winter clothes ready for our next planned trip: down south to Albany. We'd booked (after much confusion-we had no clue where the bus went from) a coach to Albany, which was to only take 6 hours, and had called a working hostel in advance, as our aim was to get some farm days completed towards our second year visa. We'd decided 1) to get it done asap, and 2) do some during the winter so we don't burn in the sun! The coach was comfortable, and we got to stop at my favourite, a service station! This was literally a petrol station, but in the sticks of WA I'll take what I can get! We arrived in Albany to discover that it was fairly cute, there were actual shops and people! Although the hostel isn't amazing (a bit dirty, but the beds have cute little curtains around them), the people are super nice and helpful! Like amazingly nice, gave us many tips for where to put out stuff, what to do around here etc. Yet again, the rains came and it's been a week of weather like the North of England! Ive been wrapping up warm and earning free nights in the hostel by cleaning- a welcome break from the boredom of pottering around this teensy tiny town! David's been working quite a lot (heavy lifting 'jobs for boys') so I've been left to potter, make food etc. and visit coffee shops! Hopefully I'll get a few days of farm work down (88 and counting!) before the return to Perth!
Accomodation: Perth YHA, then Albany Backpackers.
Highlights: TransWA! Meeting our top Albany roommates (Aaron, Mauc and Manuel), hanging with Matt, Lloyd and our Belgian roommates in Perth.
