11th June 2005 Today we got up at stupid o'clock and went to Ahu Tongariki for the sun rise which was spectacular, I got some wicked photo's! I was really spooky though with these massive statues looming out through the dark at us! We then went horse riding, along the west coast, which was fun, never been horse riding since I was a wee small girly. The owner said he would meet us at the lunch stop as he thought I might like to go back via car..........Oh! how right he was, I was so sore it was not true, I walked like a cowboy! In the evening I suddenly remembered that I had some laundry to collect! So when I met up with Suzi for dinner, we asked where my laundry was, the lady looked blank! Suzi joked that it had probably been put out for the dustman! Anyway, after about half an hour of us not speaking good Spanish and the lady on speaking any English, her daughter turned up with a phrase book! Thats right, when Suzi handed over my bag of washing, saying the word "for Laundry" the lady had replied "for the rubbish" both smiled and went there seperate ways!!!! My laundry was no longer............gone the clothes heaven!!!! After a bottle of wine I did laugh! The lady when she realised what she had done was mortified, I thought she was going to have heart failier! Bless her! Another reason to learn spanish!
