Ali's Travels
10th June 2005
We hired the car for another day, you really can't get around easily without one! and headed out to Rano Raraku Volcano and The Nursery and the north of the Island.
The Nursery was just awesome, like nothing that you have ever seen before, all these carved heads and statues jutting out of the ground, or part carved into the side of the volcano, its very eerie! We walked upto the top of the Volcano where you had a view of the entire Island, you could see the sea on both sides! We then headed down to Ahu Tongariki, where there are are a large group of Ahu still standing, which was magical, we have decided to get up early tomorrow and come down here and get some photo's of them at sun rise!
After lunch we headedto the northern tip og the Island via some farmers field on the search for some petroglyphs, pictures caved into stone, we must have walked for at least 2hours through numerous heards of cattle, including bulls! Which didn't look happy that we were there! Although they didn't cause us to much alarm, we never found these carvings! So we headed back, with Suzi climbing a small hill at warp speed!
