Ok, so a lot of time on the bus today, with only lunch in Carcasonne to talk about really. Carcassonne is a fortress town towards the Spanish border in France. It is a walled city and is everything you think of when you think medieval castle. It was chock a block with people (as it is more tourist attraction than town) though and we have discovered that in France you only look after yourself when you are walking and don't care about anyone else, so moving was an issue. We visited the basilica of San Michel while in the city and it was beautiful. High ceilings and intricate carvings were coupled with 4 men singing hymns and the acoustics in this church made it sound like a full choir of people were singing. That was definitely the highlight of Carcassone for me. The rest of the place was nice, but the sheer volume of people in such narrow streets probably dulled the brilliance of the place a bit. I would recommend reading up on the history of Carcasonne as it is highly interesting and quite important in the scheme of things (Carcasonne was one of the battles that stopped the moors (Muslims) from advancing further into Europe from Africa). We are in Barcelona for the next few days so we are off to see the sights tomorrow then maybe a swim in the med if we have time. Also there is a full station on the telly devoted to F.C Barcelona (as an Arsenal fan it's annoying to see Cesc Fabregas paraded around every 5 minutes, ask someone who knows even a tiny bit about soccer to explain that to you) and all you see is F.C Barcelona merchandise everywhere. We are apparently staying around the corner from Nou Camp so hopefully we get to see that tomorrow. Anyhoo, of to bed now for me, so buenas noches for now.
