"Bring me more mead, wench" is what I should have said tonight at our Knappogue Castle banquet dinner, but I'll get to that later. We left Killarney this morning to do a tour of the Dingle (hehe, I don't know why but it sounds rude) Peninsula, the lesser known but equally pretty site in Kerry. We saw, and have seen, so many beautiful Irish landscapes it's almost getting monotonous. We had islands, mountains, beehive huts, thatch cottages and rivers as far as the eye can see. We stopped for lunch in the town of Dingle and had some lovely local seafood and then got caught in the rain for the first time. We then drove to Adare to see some thatched roof houses from the 1800's which were delightful, if not slightly a fire hazard, and then got caught in the rain for a second time (and the second time without a raincoat). After vowing never to go outside without a raincoat ever again, we went through Limerick. All I could think of during this town was "there once was a man from Nantucket". We arrived at our hotel in Ennis a short time after that and it seemed like we were straight out the door to our dinner. Knappogue Castle was brilliant, it was essentially a medieval pantomime/play/concert full of singing, dancing and laughing. I luckily turned down the roll of "prisoner" as I thought the part was beneath me, and I didn't want to have to sing a song!! So we have had a full day and are off to Dublin tomorrow hopefully in time for the Gaelic final. Cheers
