We awoke to torrential rain this morning and grey clouds which reflects our sombre mood. Today, when we reach Oslo, I will be flying home. My father died at the weekend and I am returning home early to go and be with my Mum and brother, Colin has promised to keep up a photo blog on Facebook, so that even though I am missing out on the end of our holiday, I can still share in some of the sights of Oslo, Hamburg and Ghent.

Travelling from Trondheim to Heidal today has been incredible. As we left Trondheim I realised that the houses in and around this area reminded me of what I think of as Southern American houses, with wooden facades, verandas and balconies; but if immigrants from Norway went America it would make sense for them to build house in the tradition of those from home. We are having a sight seeing day in Trondheim today. Although we weren't sure this morning just what we would find or how long we would be out. It's now coffee and cake time at 3:00 and we have been meandering for a good few hours. As always on our trips we tend to find museums which commemorate wars. Whilst waiting for our ferry we came across a group of 3 Italian bikes complete with dog! Our journey through Kristainsand was a bit complicated until we realised the reason there weren't any signs was because there was only one road we could actually take! The journey to Trondheim passed by with no rainfall; which given the wet roads was nothing short of a miracle! We came across a group of Dutch riders who had travelled up through Sweden and to the top of Norway and were just following our route down to Denmark.
