Ha Long Bay Our final and favorite destination in Vietnam was Halong Bay. We arrived in HaLong, got one of the boats and the journey through bay was absolutely stunning. Hanoi We expected the capital to be even busier and more hectic than Saigon, but to our surprise it was a little bit quieter and smaller. There was still a hell of a lot of traffic but the central lake and large city squares made a lot of difference. Mui Ne Leaving Saigon (HCM) we went up the coast onto Mui Ne, a small seaside town with one big attraction, its huge sand dunes! So getting a jeep tour booked, we went on to see a fishing a village, a canyon which looked like a mini grand canyon and off to the white sand dunes first. It was like being in the middle of the Sahara. Everywhere you looked was huge sand dunes for miles. It was quite surreal. We had a brilliant time sliding down the dunes on sand boar...

Cu Chi Tunnels Our next trip was to Cu Chi to see the war tunnels which were used during the Vietnam war by local villagers of the region to hide from the Americans. The tour was fascinating and there was so much history being told. Part of the forest had been left as it was since the war days and so we saw some traps, blown up tank remains and the famous tunnels. Mekong Delta Our first trip was to the Mekong delta in south west Vietnam. After a few hours in the bus we got on a boat and sailed across the massive Mekong river, visiting some floating villages, unicorn and phoenix islands and getting off on turtle island where we had some food and listened to traditional music being performed.
