We arrived at the Grand Canyon an it made sense why we had been brought bandanas. Liz put us in a line and blindfolded us we made a train holding on to each other and she led us to the edge and then took photos of our reaction when we saw the canyon for the first time. It looks like a painting and I can't believe how big it is! We went up the watch tower to get a better view and I brought another tree decoration. Kate lost her phone over the edge that wasn't so good.
We went to the canyon next morning to start the south kaibab trail down the canyon there are so many warning signs about the dangers. Had to start hiking down at 7am because anything after midday is too hot. We hiked down past ooh aah point and eventually reached cedar ridge. View was incredible. Everyone else went back up at this point but we wanted to carry on to skeleton point...they advise you don't carry on any further past there. Got down -was very steep. We sat and had lunch over looking the Colorado river below and the sun had only just come out. It got hot. Fast. Coming back up was something else. We'd heard it was meant to be really hard but Jesus!! We hiked up to cedar ridge again and ran out of water. You weren't put of breath when you stopped but the thirst and heat was ridiculous. I thought mart was going to pass out near to the top so took it a little slower. Hardest thing we've ever done! The water at the top was the best thing ever. Went to see the sunset over the canyon which was nice but then I got cold had my hoodie and leggings on for the first time since we left England!
On our way to lake Powell today for some horse riding and a party in a barn!
