Welcome along!
So panic over, we made it safely down the mountain and out of Yosemite before the snow-fall. Not a great deal worthy of mention over the next two days as we headed towards San Francisco, pretty much consisted of one nights slumber in a local fairgrounds 'RV Park' (car park) and a fierce thunder storm that kept us awake most of the night.
Night two was spent at the Two Rivers RV park along the banks of the San Juaquin river next to another odd man and his huge great dane (called Dino). We were considering stroking him at one point till the man uttered the words:
"I got him cheap 'cos his parents were aggressive..."
Righto then...
Today we arrived in San Francisco after eventually finding an RV park that was actually still there! (dont ask). Didnt do much though apart from menial tasks like washing and researching what we wanted to see in the next two days that we were here. An early start was planned AGAIN and, yep thats right, once again it failed to materialise, with us eventually getting out at about 10:30.
San Francisco is easily the nicest of the major cities weve seen so far, kinda similar to London in much of its appearance but with the added beauty of the bay.
Somehow we negotiated our way from the RV park on the outskirts of town to the downtown area and headed off on the Lonely planet walking tour through Chinatown to the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Company, which was pretty much a sweat shop of Chinese women making cookies with a great little chinaman greeting people and posing for photos (oh yea, we got one!). So with our 'Adult' fortune cookies in hand it was off to Fishermans wharf to see the famous Sea Lions at Pier 39 (which Aimee loved) and eat our grand money saving packed lunch at the pier!
Finally, among walking through various quiant back alleys we frequented a free Videa game arcade which was pretty cool with the original space invaders etc as well as a very off 'Execution' 'game', which basically consisted of inserting a quarter and seeing a gate open and a small wooden doll with a noose around its neck get dropped, nice game for a small child hey!
So out of food and hungry it was time for the hike back to the train station. Damn they have some steep streets here!! We must have walked a good 5 miles up the steepest hills in the city on our way back, the hill we walked up was actually called "Nobs Hill", ive decided its because only Nobs are stupid enough to walk up it!!
So there you have it, your all up to date! Hope your pleased! We are as its taken AGES to get the blog back in order! Tomorrow we shall be heading for the Golden Gate Bridge among other things with Alcatraz coming on in thursdays edition - sp stay tuned listeners!!
Until next time we meet, farewell!
Love and man hugs. A & M xx
