Hi guys,
So today we had a whole day in San Fransisco and actually managed to get there before lunchtime (we missed the bus yesterday - woops!) so we headed straight to Golden Gate Park to see the Japanese Tea Gardens and generally get away from the hustle of the city for an hour or so. The Tea Garden was really nice however the $5 entrance fee (each) shocked us (everyone here is after your money) so we expected at least a cup of tea for that but unsuprisingly that was an extra $3.95 plus tax so we skipped the tea! Had a good wander round and took numerous photos (we know you guys all want to see the photos - we promise to try and upload some asap presuming we find some decent broadband!!) to get our moneys worth and then tried to figure out how to get to the Bison Paddock. Yup you heard right..Bison! lol You guys have to use your imaginations here and imagine a park somewhat bigger than 'Cutts Close' - we're talking 3 miles long by 1/2 mile wide!! Pretty big with all sorts of lakes and botanical gardens within.
So bearing in mind the scale of the place it was not suprising that the Bison Paddock was all the way down the other end to where we were - doh! After wandering around aimlessly, unsuccesfly trying to figure out a bus to take us at least part the way down to save our weary feet - I dangled the 'lunch' carrot in front of Marks nose and he quickly forgot the bison and was happy to make our way back to Fishermans Wharf for some Clam Chowder ( Aimee 1 - Bison 0 )
On the way down we stopped off at Fort Point for some camera action with the Golden Gate Bridge and an amazing view of the bay.
So with a basket of Sour Dough Bread filled with Clam Chowder in hand we parked bot on a bench overlooking Alcatraz and 'chowed down' on some sumptuous chowder with seagulls and pigeons eyeing us up either side.
With full bellies we watched some of the street entertainment which consisted of some amateur breakdancers, some mime artists and musicians before catching a tram up to Union Square to visit the awesome CheeseCake Factory in Macys where we again 'chowed down' me with a slice of Carrot Cake Cheesecake and Mark with (suprise suprise) Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Dough with extra hot fudge sauce (you would have loved it Hilton!!) which made us both feel rather queezy but definately worth it!
Tomorrow we are visiting Alcatraz in the morning then setting off down the Gold Coast Highway 1 back towards LA. We have changed our flights so we now leave USA on 8th April, dropping the RV back on the 4th so we have 3 days in LA to visit Muscle Beach, Universal Studios etc.
Not sure how likely it will be for us to find internet access along the coast before LA so this may be the last post for a week or so but we will fill you in when we can and try and get some pics up.
Love to all
A & M xxxx
