Waking up to rain was not how we had imagined our whitewater rafting but we had been told that it will make the water warmer. It was by the best day to wear shorts either but being English, we had a little moan before gritting our teeth and getting on with it.
When we arrived we had already started speaking to an Argentinian girl who had done this difficulty of rafting, saying it was fun and not overly difficult.
Changing into our wetsuits, it is safe to safe we looked amazing!! The rain had stopped to a drizzle and we got the boat in the water with us two being placed at the front. It was definitely the wettest seats on the raft but also the most fun seeing everything coming towards us.
The guide did try to drown us at one point as we attempted to row back upstream. With water pouring over the front and soaking us we turned the boat around before it sank.
The whitewater rafting was amazing but freezing, all shivering as we squirmed from side to side trying to get out of our wetsuits. Thankfully there was a self made sauna which instantly warmed us up which was very much needed. The heat became a little unbearable when water was thrown on the fire sending steam everywhere. With the traditional use of the helicopter with a t-shirt, it didn't really help with the intolerable temperatures so jumped out and had a shower.
Still being freezing we didn't want to get out the shower but after braving the cold and a lunch they prepared we had our zip wire. This was straight over the river we had just rated down and was good fun. The only way back across was zip line so hoped on and headed back.
Arriving in Cusco we waited for our CD and. We then went and looked at some more of the local stalls, finding the the prices were similar to La Paz. Grabbing a late dinner and looking at a couple more shops we headed back to the room.
