With Kat and Dai finally realising that Dalat is most definitely more of a must see than Mui Ne, we were all on a bus to Dalat to arrive 6 hours later. Such a chilled place, with more of Vietnam's finest bakery and coffee with sweet milk...perhaps at this stage I should mention that I had given up coffee about 3 years ago not liking the taste...don't worry, I've made up for lost time!
We did a group market shop, prep, cook and eat together under guidance of our hostel host...was tasty but not so sure that bbq hotpot chicken was fully cooked.
While Kat and Dai decided to go on to better pastures in Saigon. Meg and I fully embraced the world of canyoning...a whole day of abseiling next to and through various waterfalls, walking/swimming through rivers, sliding down (forwards and backwards) naturally formed rock slides int the river and jumping off 3 and 7 meter high rocks into the river...was a great adrenaline fix.
Culturally (I use that term loosely) we visited the Crazy House which was designed by one of the old priminister's daughters who lived in Russia and brought her architecture skills back to create a house out of connecting trees and branches. I can see why it is rated one of the worlds top 10 craziest houses. The oldest railway station in Vietnam was also one of our stops for a photo shoot, unfortunately they needed 15 and not just the 9 people we had to get the train running. Having had an amazing time in Dalat we got the overnight bus to Saigon, trusting me Angels will protect us on these dodgy roads.
