From Saigon the Mekong was relatively closely accessible. One of the things to tick of the list was a Mekong Delta trip, however after a few hours we were so bored and a bit disappointed at the extremely commercial and unauthentic tour. We had a 2-3 hour bus trip to the Mekong. Boarded a boat to have lunch down the river, the classic rice with pork and veggies. Of course a Vietnamese iced coffee was ordered as standard. Thankfully we only did the day trip and not the 3 day one and were thus back in Saigon for the evening.

Meg was leaving for her NZ leg her trip, I too left that same morning for Cambodia, Phnom Phen was my next destination. I never like good byes, but we said our see you later. We started the trip as acquaintances and have ended it as friends for life.
