Day one on the great ocean road saw us set off on our trip from Melbourne. The drive to the ocean road was about 45mins so not too bad. We started our trip on the road from Torquay…the home of all the surf clothing companies such as rip curl and quicksilver. We headed first to Bells beach to spot surfers. The weather was a little dodgy and so we did not see too many surfers. Shame but the beach did look very nice… we then carried on a little further to Aireys Inlet which is the home of split point lighthouse which is very famous because it is where 'round the twist' was filmed. Being one of mine, dean and Charlie's favorite children's programs we were all naturally very excited by this. In fact I don't think that the dodgy weather could cloud over how excited we were! After the lighthouse the weather started to brighten up and so we stopped at Anglesea for lunch. After we continued to drive and we saw a nice stretch of beach and decide that the weather was now too good to miss so we hopped out and enjoyed the sun. Dean and Lee played in the surf for a long time. The views along the road had being spectacular and the sun shining on them had made them even more amazing. The road hugs the winding cliff top which really makes the drive awesome. After a beautiful drive along the road we decided to stop and set up camp. The site we picked was about half way along the road in a place called Apollo bay.
