When we left Apollo bay in the morning the weather was stunning. The day started very well as after about 2 mins of driving we had to stop suddenly…as a koala decided to jump down from the tree and walk across the road and climb up another. It is pretty unusual to see a koala do anything other than sleep and eat (WHAT A LIFE!) So we were very lucky. After continuing on our journey we headed up to the main highlight on the road. The twelve apostles…which are rocks that stand independently of the coast line and have been created by sea erosion. The erosion is so intense that now only 9 exist because the sea has battered them. This was something which we had heard was a truly amazing sight. So we decided that the best way to see the twelve apostles was by air. So Myself, Lee and Charlotte took to the sky in a small 4 seated helicopter. This was a really cool was to see the apostles and it was especially good for charlotte and myself because it was our first time in a helicopter.
After the flight we walked down to the shoreline and saw them at ground level with Dean. They were truly magical…one of those moments that you cannot explain until you have been there. It was a real highlight for us. After we continued along the road and came to several other landmarks such as Loch Ard gorge and London Bridge. These rock formations were also very breathtaking. After a long day we finally completed the ocean road and decided to camp at Warrnambool.
