Hi there,
Its now day 11 of 29 so got some to go yet. Im currently in Ninh Binh in Vietnam, but have been on a roller coaster ride to get here.
Since i last wrote in Luang Prabang i have had a nice 3hr massage which was abit painful in actual fact. The girl who must have been no more than 17 had strong hands and i felt like i was being beaten to a pulp at times! Although i havent had any bruises remarkably! We also visited the Ki Sain waterfalls about an hours ride out of the city, it was so beautiful. And watched the monks get there food off the locals in the morning at 6am.
Since then, we have been in Vietiane, which to be honest, even though it was the capital of Laos, it felt like a sleepy sunday morning premoniently. The pace of life in Laos is some what different to Thailand - thats for sure.
After that, we started a two day bus journey heading north to Vietnam, where the sceenery and local life changed quite a bit. There was subtle diferences that make the countrys seem quite unique. First we stayed over night in a homestay - a villagers house. That was quite an experience. Alhough they were really lovely and had no idea what we weer saying. They took us on a boat ride along the river to see the sun set in a disused torpedo - prehaps left over from the Vietnam war?? So they said anyhow...I woke up this morning to cockreals - and oh my god- can they sing! Jesus, they started at about 4:30am and didnt stop. We slept on the floor with mossis nets over us, but i coulnt help but notice a verge large bug at least 2 inches long, crawl across my pillow as i was reading by touch light! Nice.
Well, after a 11hr journey across mountions, rivers and everything elses, we've arrived here in one piece.
I will keep you updated and write soon.
