Finnally reached Christchurch, I am well rested and getting used to the country I'll be staying in for the next 6 months!
So the flight? the first leg was horrrendously long and i struggled to get much sleep!
Upon reaching singapore I was starting to feel the drag, around 17 hours down the line from when i arrived at Heathrow, 13 hours flight-time and around 4 hours prior to boarding checking in and what-not.
I arrived at Singapore at around 5pm singapore time and proceeded to get myself some grub, although i did eat pretty well before and on the plane.
I had a look around and opted for a burger king, pretty safe going for a greasy burger. I then noticed and felt pretty sweaty after the flight and walking around the airport for a while. Being there for 4 or 5 hours and knowing i had another two flights ahead of me i decided to buy myself a cheap t-shirt and some roll on deohodrant, that made the remainder of my journey much more pleasant i can tell you.
I then headed towards gate C17 where my flight to Brisbane was due to depart at around 9.25pm local time. It was only about 6.30pm at this point and i was starting to really feel tired. I noticed these really comfy declined lounger's and got my lie down on :) I kept dozing in and out of a potentially dangerous sleep, knowing if i konked out i could miss my next connecting flight!
So i decided to move closer to the gate and perched my head on my bag for some well deserved rest. I woke up! s***, i was completely dazed and had lost all track on time, i ran to the nearest person and requested the time, it was 9pm! 5 minutes before my gate closed, so i ran to the toilet and then sprinted to my gate, i made it - PHEW! a very close call.
My flight was quite pleasant and i managed to get a good quantity of sleep, this ensured me some decent energy upon arrival to my final destination.
Upon arrival to Brisbane the flight was slighty late and my name was called over the airoplanes tannoy saying 'can such and such and mr sutton who are flying with jetstar report to our ground staff'
So i reported to the groundstaff and they instructed me to proceed straight to my next gate, i got there as quick as i could and was greeted with 'ah mr sutton?' they had already prepared my boarding pass. After all of that the plane encountered a few technical issues which would have allowed me a window of good fortune should my plane have been later.
Because of the technical issue my plane arrived at Christchurch around 50 minutes late, not a bad track for the whole journey with that being the only delay.
I was ushered pretty quickly through New Zealand custom's, i was expecting a vigorous bagsearch, background check and stripsearch! ok not that extreme but i got through pretty quickly and was greeted by my dad's wife Jan
I cant tell you how glad i was to see Jan and to finnally be here! I had done it and i was finnally living the dream which so many people regret not doing and are so jealous of!
It took about 20 minutes to get to my dads house from the airport, practically a two second walk after the 2 day travel i had just endured.
It was good to see my dad again after about a year and a half! we went and got some tasty grub i got a massive hand-prepared mince style burger with some proper top-end chipalaters. We had a catch up and a beer and all i could think was wow im finnally here and finnally doing it.
After that we went back to his home and attempted to watch a quentin Tarrantino flick, 'inglorious b******s' I managed about 2 minutes and then My dad and Jan were like seriously 'GO TO BED' i tried to resist but they convinced me and i slept like a baby for 14 hours, i did get up at around 4am as my Dad said i would and realised it was shockingly early and my body clock was fudged, so i went back to sleep and was awoken at around 10.30am.
Got some crucial things done today, got insured on my dads old MR2 at 17 years old lets say its rather nippy, yup thats right been driving a 2L MR2 today, boy it goes some, going to say its slightly beter than my 1.1 peugot
I also applied for my IRD number, my tax number while im here and opened a bank account complete with an easy cash card thing so i can access my money safely while im travelling.
Me and my dad then went for some lunch - had a nice mexican encilada thing, yummy. It was now my turn to drive, I drove round to a few shops got a few bits and then drove home, man this was so better than my pug.
So yeah I am having a great time and absorbing all the atmosphere, lots more to come!
Stay Tuned!!

John and Grandma Playing in an MR2 eh, sound like fun but watch for those mean police who hang around trying to get speeding motorists. I got my fine in Kaikoura (just up the road from Christchurch) They had to give me a NZ driving licence so they could make the fine. Still while I was there the English team kept beating the NZ teams at Rugby Ha Ha Ha
