Had a little sleep in until 9.30am, um-mah!
Caught an uber into Dallas, a good half hour drive, so didn't get there until 11ish.
Got him to drop me at the aquarium where I thought I could get on a hop on/hop off bus circuit. Wasn't that keen on doing the aquarium though. Wandered around looking for the bus stop I needed for the hop on/off and stumbled on a free bus loop that went to pretty much the same places! The Pink bus!
I got off at Reunion Tower, basically equivalent to Sydney's Centrepoint - 360° views of Dallas. It was pricey to go up but it was a pretty good view.
I walked a few blocks to a JFK Memorial site, then decided to get the free trolley thingy that goes from downtown to uptown. Big mistake! I had to walk about 6 blocks to get on it, in about 35° heat and felt like 80% humidity!! It near killed me!! I even dorked it up and got my brolly out for some pretend shade! Got a few strange looks but hey, I didn't get sunburnt. Finally got on it and the 45 min trip to uptown was boring and I didn't see any stops of interest. So 45 mins back down but then it went a different way and I got a bit disoriented having no map (and well...because I'm me!). So we stopped at some park and I saw a cafe. I was so thirsty I just jumped off that thing and went for a drink.
A park with free WiFi, nice bonus! I considered going back to downtown to do a JFK tour I'd seen earlier, but Mr Google told me the last tour was 3pm, and it was 2.58pm!
Oh well...for lack of anything else to do, I decided to head back to the aquarium. Nope...couldn't find a busstop for the pink bus back, of course, and it was way too stinky hot to walk. Call on my good friend uber! He came within minutes and drove me back 10 mins to the aquarium.
Oh wow!! The aquarium was amazing!! I had to zip around it in 90 mins before closing, but wish I had gone earlier instead of arsing around with that uptown trolley thing. The flamingos were cool, as were the tiny monkeys and the shark tunnel where they swim over you. I was fascinated by the ant eater and even caught feeding time for the penguins.
5pm out the door at closing and decided to grab something to take home for dinner. Good ole 7'11 for a sanga and OJ then ubered on home.
Was good to get home early actually. I've repacked my bag ready to fly out in the morning.
It's been fun Texas, but we're over! On to the next...
