Up early again and headed down for free brekky. Didn't see anyone down there, must've been too early for the others!
I was packed and out of our room half an hour early and Sophie still had crap everywhere, haha.
We drove for about half an hour before our first stop - an alligater swamp tour. We went in a tin boat out into the swamp and saw American gaters including the big fella named El Whoppo. We fed them marshmallows because they think they're bird eggs, haha. There was houses where people live right on the swamp and can only get home by boat. They often find the gaters in their pools! It was pretty good especially when we went flying up the straight at full throttle.
That was the excitement for the day... After that we just drove for 7 hours...eek. I have to say though, you can get the best cup of hazelnut coffee at any garage for $1.05. Cheap as!
We landed at our RV Park around 8pm where we stayed in cute little cabins in the middle of nowhere. No luxuries though..no linen or pillows and a short walk to the bathrooms. Glad JD had extra sleeping bags for us.
JD cooked us an amazing steak that had been marinating all day...it was delicious. It was a sample of what the camping tour would have been like (except for sleeping in tents). Everyone mucked in and helped with the salad etc and with washing up and packing up. There was nothing to do except sit around and drink (and get eaten alive by massive mozzies) so I took the chance to have an early night. Well it was after 11pm but everyone was in full swing still when I turned in.
Later,
Tracey
