A well earned sleep in this morning! I didn't get up until 11.30am!
I met Graham & Lorraine for coffee at 12.30pm, before heading over to the DBD hall to try out some Hex squares. They did a bit of it yesterday and said it was really good. Hex being 6 couples instead of 4.
So, I was originally just going to watch, since I really didn't even know what Hex was, but this guy insisted I get up with him, so I did. Luckily we were in a Hex of experienced Hex dancers and they gave me a few handy pointers before we started, and helped me through it with pointing and gentle persuasion! I actually am pretty chuffed with myself! I think I did pretty good, and I ended up in all the right places and didn't muck up the Hex at all!! Even afterwards, a few of them came up to me and told me how impressed they were with how well I picked it up! It actually was quite fun, and I wish we had a club at home where we could dance it.
We had lunch just at the local food court, and then headed back to the same hall for some Plus DBD for the afternoon. I had originally said I didn't want to go back to DBD because it was so hard yesterday, but I psyched myself up and told myself this is a once off opportunity that we don't get at home, and I should make the most of it. Anyway.... I'm so glad I did, because I had the best afternoon! Very challenging on my brain!
We met up again with Sze and Rufina for dinner - they had been at a tour of the town for the day. We had buffet dinner at our hotel, just some chicken and rice and salad, etc. It was nice.
Lorraine & Graham and I decided to head back and hang out at the DBD again for at least the first part of the evening, until our brains became too tired to deal with it. However, we had so much fun we ended up staying there all night! I had so much fun and didn't mess up anywhere near as much as I did the first time. Maybe my brain just had to get used to "thinking outside the square" and getting used to the different formations and doing things from different positions. I even got to dance with some young people, which was fun!
Back to the bar for afterdrinks, and a quick Skype with the folks before calling it a night around 2.30am. Yep, that's the time right now, but I'm not even tired... I'm on such a high!!!
We're meeting at midday tomorrow to have our group photo taken, but my plan is to get up early and go and do some other things first. I want to check out the stalls again, and take some general photos, and some film of the live band which I haven't seen much of because they're playing in the main mainstream arena. So much to do!
Can't believe it's the last day of the convention tomorrow... it's gone too fast!
