The plan was that most of us were going to Seaworld today and meeting JD at 9.30am...but last night I was looking at some brochures and found a hop on hop off trolley tour around San Diego. I decided I would like to see the city rather than dolphins and rides, so I found JD and made plans to meet him back at the hostel around 5ish. I bought tickets cheaper online, printed them off...and away I went!!
I only had to walk a few blocks to the Gaslamp Quarter stop and the trolley thing (tram looking bus thing) came within minutes.
First stop I hopped off at was Coronado where I checked out the fancy Hotel Del Coronado right on the beach, and checked out a few little shops. I was only off for about half an hour.
Next I hopped off at Balboa Park so I could at least the entrance to San Diego Zoo. I did accidently take a wrong turn and walked about 15 mins...oops. Found it eventually. Spent about an hour at this stop before hopping back on.
Next stop Little Italy. I hopped off and just walked the main drag. Nothing exciting at all...just a bunch of Italian restaurants. I found Sub N Go for a quick sub lunch then back down the drag to re-hop at around 2.30pm.
Next stop Old Town. It was so cute! Little market stalls and old fashion shops. I spent ages there, then I walked all the way back to the trolley stop to see one just pulling away. Dang!! Then I had to wait half an hour till the next one at 4.30pm.
I returned to the stop close to home at Horton Shopping Centre and was planning a quick souvineer shop, and as the trolley pulled in to stop, I spotted Lissy coming out of the shopping centre - co-incidence! So I met up with her and we had a quick look in 1 shop before walking the few blocks home, arriving about 5.15pm. Perfect timing so we could freshen up and leave for dinner around 6pm.
We drove to. ....... and JD cooked a BBQ on his Freedom Grill on the trailer. Chris wasn't with us as he was catching up with some friends who live in San Diego. We played a little cornhole while dinner was cooking and saw the sunset over the beach.
While out and about today the girls bought JD some presents from the group and insisted on giving them to him tonight, which I thought was poor form given Chris wasn't there and we still have all of tomorrow.
After packing up we left and picked up Chris before heading home. The gang wanted to do something since it's our last night together. We tried bowling but after 9pm you have to be over 21 coz they serve alcohol in there. So they then decided on a movie. We walked to the cinema and they all wanted to see The Avengers. It's not a movie that interests me at all, so I was just going to go home. Then I realised it was 3D and thought I may as well just go and watch abd enjoy some 3D special effects. It was so boring, and sooooo long and I started feeling sick from the 3D so I closed my eyes, then I started nodding off...haha. Eventually I moved away from the others and did some typing of this blog in the corner...haha. Worst movie experience ever!! It finished late, around 1am and we went straight home.
1 more tour sleep!
Later,
Tracey
