Saturday. It was lovely waking up all snugly in my sleeping bag this morning as the sun streamed into the tent. Although hot during the day, it gets quite cold at night. Last night Aaron got a lovely fire going in the fire pit at our campsite, over which delicious pork ribs smothered in spicy BBQ sauce were cooked. A little history lesson for the day. Yosemite Valley was once a simple river running through the valley of a huge mountain range. About 300 million years ago during the ice age, the valley filled with ice and a huge glacier formed. We found a lovely campsite this morning closer in towards the centre of the park. Still about 25 km from the visitors centre, which also has a large general store, post office, art gallery, restaurants and cafés - small village really. The Central park area is very busy, with traffic jams and pedestrians worse than peak hour in Dean St. Albury. Over 6 million people visit this park each year, mainly in summer months! Goodbye LV. Hitting the road about 10am, after planning to leave about 9, our first stop was 2min down the road at McDonalds for breakfast. Needed to fuel up for our 7hour drive to Yosemite NP, our next stop. The scenery was the highlight of the drive as we passed from scrubby hills, through Death Valley that had no plant growth whatsoever, and on through magnificent pine forests.
