Started the day with a 2 hour bus ride to Wat Rong Khun in Chiang Rai. We were promised something different from all the other Wats we have seen (and there has been a lot) this was deffinately what we got. It reminded us of the ice castle in Lion the witch and the wardrobe but even more spectacular. You start by crossing a bridge over hell, underneath in the pit of hell with lots of hands reaching up and faces that looked like they were coming out of the ground. You will see this by the many photos we took. Then you continue to walk towards the temple enterance where you walk through the gate to heaven. For a change the temple was silver (my preffered choice) with amazing sculptures of animals and mythical creatures in the grounds. The most bizzare part of the temple is the walls within it wasn't your standard buddas and trees infact it was nothing like. At the bottom you started with images from the world strangely enough these include such things as converse, alien v's predator, superman, twin towers as the second plane is about to hit, Zinidine Zidanes headbut, Keanu Reeves from the Matrix and many more. As you move up the wall you have images of the path to heaven and the temptations that can lead to hell and finally at the top heaven.

After another 2 hours on the bus we ended up at Chiang Khong the border town at Laos. We are staying at a wooden lodge right on the river so probably get eaten alive tonight. Going into Laos tomorrow so do not know if we will be updating for a while.
