After a late breakfast in the hotel, we booked a trip on the hop on hop off red doubledecker bus. Hamburg is full of beautiful buildings. Luckily the commentry was in English and German, otherwise we would have missed a lot. We decided to get off at the Hamburg Town Hall which is behind us in the photo. Its basically in the middle of the city, and a short walk to the lakeside and city centre shopping. We had a quick look around the shops, as much as I could with Noel the anti-shopper anyway.
Back on the bus and we went through the red light district and down to the harbour. Hamburg has a huge working harbour.
Back at the hotel and we are all really tired, but have a dinner to go to so we all get dressed up and are taken on a half hour bus trip past some beautiful homes which were originally built as summer homes for very wealthy people who lived in Hamburg, not very far away from home for a summer house though. Even now it is still the most expensive real estate in the whole area. Beautiful setting for a restaurant, atop a hill with beautiful views. The food at dinner was really nice but we did leave a bit early as again the kids were falling asleep at the table, especially Lachlan.
Its really deceiving having daylight till 10pm, feels much earlier. We go to bed hoping the jetlag wears off tomorrow .
