After walking such a long way yesterday, we have realised you can't really walk to everything in Paris, even if you stay really central. So we decided to buy tickets for a hop on hop of bus tour of Paris. It's well worth saving your legs (even if it cost us 100 euros)
The bus makes it way down to the Champs Élysées, and all the way up the top to the Arc de Triomphe. Yesterday we were so tired we didn't even go through the tunnel to get a good look, not so today. The first thing you notice is how huge and imposing it is standing at the foot, and the details you never get to see properly in photographs, really beautiful.
The next stop we get off is the main attraction la Tour Eiffel. Again, the size is what is most impressive, it's beautiful. We have a long walk around, buy ice cream, and the kids buy some souveniers.
The only drawback is that the whole city is setting up for Bastille Day on Sunday and the is a lot of stand building, and scaffolding, which gets in the way of photos a bit, but not much to complain about.
Our next stop we get off at is Notre Dame. Paige actually fell asleep on the bus and we are all really hungry, so we choose one of those iconic looking cafe's to have a late lunch, very late, 2.30. Both the boys wanted to try snails in Paris and so here is their chance, smothered in Garlic and butter, went down surprisingly fast. Well done boys.
Notre Dame is huge, again photos can't show how imposing these buildings are, there is a huge line up to get in, even at four o'clock, but it moves fast and we are in, it's cool, dark and fairly quiet, even though packed with people, we get lot so pictures, and are back out in the daylight.
We get back on the bus, and we weave our way through the streets of Paris till we arrive where we picked up the bus tour, in the Opera District, closest to home. On the way home, I saw some great places for a day of shopping tomorrow............
