Vikki: We are in Penang. It's hot, probably the hottest place we've been yet, but we have a pool and the beach across the road! So far we have taken it pretty easy, been swimming in the sea, but mostly in the pool. Our accommodations leave some what to be desired when it comes to cleanliness, but they are roomy and have great views of the sea. There's a great food hall down the road, with so many different types of foods and drinks so been going there each night and trying different things. Great satay sticks with peanut sauce.
Raj: It's nice to relax and do not too much. Site seeing in the heat this past 10 days has been taxing at times and only ice creams (up to 3 a day) keep the kids going until we get home. So the beach and pool has been a welcome and much looked forward to treat. The water is soooo warm all day. Nothing like Waitarere Beach! Although there are some less common dangers - yesterday we found a water snake and were later told they are very poisonous. Not going to put me off though. Today we went to Penang Butterfly Park and Insect Gallery which we really enjoyed (even me!). For some reason the butterflys were attracted to me - not sure why but I did have a clean strip of clothes on this morning - quite rare! As Vikki said, the Long Beach Food Hall down the road has been heaven for me with so many food choices. Delicious, quick and cheap (one night we ate for as little as NZ$15). No need to look beyond the Hall and MacDonalds.
Anouk: Today in Penang, we went to a butterfly farm. There were lots of different types of butterflies. My favourite part was when a butterfly landed on the top of my head. When we got back we were very hot so we went in the pool to cool down. Dad has been teaching me to do proper dives. He says that my dives are getting better and I'll keep practising to get even better. I have bought a new charm for my charm bracelet. We bought it at the night market and it is a silver dangling heart.
Harley: I'm enjoying my time in Penang because we have a pool and the beach across the road. On the beach we have seen a black & grey poisonous sea snake and also a water monitor lizard (it was about 2 feet long). When we tried to get close to the lizard, it sprinted away. At night, when we go out for dinner we usually stop by the night markets. Last night I bought a new Manchester United soccer tee-shirt. Then we got to eat another ice-cream - mint chocolate chip. It was yummy!
