Today, I decided to stay in a little later and have some biscuits in bed for breakfast. We then all met at 9:45am to go to Mysore city centre.
When we arrived at the city centre we went straight to Devaraja fruit and vegetable market. This was definitely the biggest market I had ever been too, it went on forever! Not only where they selling fruit and veg, they also sold lots of flowers and flower garlands, spices, colour powders, essential oils etc. One of the flower market men put a rose in my hair as I walked past.
After the market, Sanna took us to the silk shop. I had been to these before, they sit you down then show you loads and loads of different designs. They were all so beautiful, I had to restrain myself. After this, we all went separate ways.
Emmanuel and I went and found a post office so she could post her postcards. It was the most hidden and eary post office I have ever seen. It was in a dark and dingey building on the third floor...very hard to find. After the post office, we went to the meat market, this was also a very new experience. There were goats heads and bladders everywhere! Probably wasn’t the best place to be wearing sandals. There was also lots and lots of kited eagles outside waiting for some meat!
We then headed back to the hotel to get some snacks before boarding our 8 hour train journey.
We got on the train at half 2, it was a comfortable train were we all had seat numbers. I was sat in between Sanner and Roshan! For the whole duration we were given sooo much food. First was a snack of soup and breadsticks, then we had a main course of two curry’s, rice and nann and then for desert we had two ice creams!
We arrived at Mamallapuram at about 11pm, as we arrived at the hotel they gave us a necklace of sea shells to welcome us into the hotel!
